With the ever increasing demand on the world’s natural resources, sustainability is becoming a major consideration when specifying building materials. The wood flooring sector is no exception to this, with the major manufacturers gearing up their efforts to become more eco-friendly by using sustainable flooring.
Many of the manufacturers now have sustainability programmes in place and their success can be measured in a number of ways, with production/post-production and recycling policies.
As a consequence, there are ever-more products available to cater for this market. Two of the most sustainable products are bamboo and cork flooring. With bamboo growing so rapidly, it is easily harvested and replenished. It is also very hard-wearing and consequently has a long life span, if looked after correctly.
In addition to this, providing the correct manufacturer is used, they are also low in harmful resins & formaldehyde.
